The Crib – Mallorca

‘I know you think I fell off, but I never really left’

We just got down from a week in the mountains shooting a tag team effort for RedBull Europe and The North Face, with Iker and Eneko Pou.  It was an incredible week long shoot, high in the mountains (no internet=no blog updates) and the video and still images we captured are just out of this world.

After dinner with the Mayor of the town below the Picos de Europa, the press frenzy that ensued after word got out that the brothers had completed the hardest big mountain climb in the world, and lots of partying; we’ve made our way to Mallorca for a two week shoot. Check out the quick video we made on the first day at our crib, before the athletes started to arrive.

This is a stop motion (bunch of still images stitched together into a movie) video and is pretty easy to do. Just walk around talking pictures with your camera (tripod will help) and use Quicktime Pro to import the image series at a specified frame rate (Final Cut also does this well, iMovie too?). We did this fast and light, but you can see with some diligence you can create some cool, and unique effects.

    Tim,
I’m always very impressed with the quality and originality that you consistently bring to the table in the outdoor media world. I don’t know very much, but I do know that your work inspires me to continue to raise my personal bar in everything that I do. Just thought I would drop by and give you some props.

Nice Tim. Yeah, iMovie can do it too. Totally ghetto example here: http://vimeo.com/6477190. It’s a little limited in the time adjustment for each photo.

Pat, that was awesome. I thought I’d have to teach you video, but it looks like the tables have turned. When you left, you were but a student. Now you are the master.
